Crisis Intervention
Anytime an accident or sudden death occurs in a school community, students, teachers and parents are often overwhelmed with the outpouring of emotions. Counselors from The Center for Grief Support are available to assist at the school during this time of crisis. They offer grief support to students and parents, and expertise to counselors during this intense emotional time.
Faculty Inservices
Grief counselors at The Center for Grief and Loss are available to train teachers and counselors on helping children with all types grief and loss, including death, divorce and changes at home.
Children's Grief Group - Formerly Children Adjusting to New Situations (C.A.N.S.)
Children's lives are deeply impacted when they lose a loved one. The Center for Grief Support now offers C.A.N.S., a grief support group for children who have experienced the loss of a loved one. C.A.N.S. is available in schools during lunch, recess or after school.
Parent Education Programs
Dealing with a death or loss in the family is difficult enough for most adults. Figuring out how to help children cope is even more challenging. Counselors from The Center for Grief Support offer education programs to provide parents with some of the tools and information they will need if a student experiences the loss of someone they love such as a family member, pet or playmate.
